Carpathian Tours

During 2011 a new travel agency opened in Lviv. It is called Carpathian Tours (Karaptenreizen). The founder is Tilia Maas Geesteranus, a Dutch living in Lviv. The tours she arranges goes to the lovely nature and treasures of the Carpathians. All her trips has special themes. During this winter she will for instance arrange daily snow-shoe walking between 18-26 February, and March 3-11 and 17-25 she will arrange snow-show trekking. You can also find cycling and hiking tours among her specialities. (For more info write to Carpathian Tours: info@karpatenreizen.com.)

In this summer she will also offer a very unique and intrigues tour called Women-To-Women Tour. During 18 – 27 May you will be able to meet women that lives and works in Carpathians. You will be able to enjoy everything from art, handcraft to goat cheese making. But beware, the booking should be made before March 18. You will find booking info in the link (pdf) above.

On a happy day like New Year it is perhaps not usual to think on such dreadful past as the Holodomor. But one of my wishes for the new year is that at least Sweden will accept Holodomor as genocide. (A pervious posing in Swedish about this).

Igår hade den svenska Luciatraditionen en miniturné i Lviv. Två företag med svenska ägare, Remit och Brainglass, hade vänligheten att bjuda in studenter som läser svenska vid Ivan franko universitetet.

Vi hoppas att detta kan bli en tradition i Lviv, att våra studenter får tillfälle att komma ut och möta företagare i Lviv med svensk anknytning.

Kraków in an other time

A couple of weeks ago I visited Kraków. This was my first visit in several years. During my last time I visit to Kraków I also visited Auschwitz. This effected of course my mood, but I also believe Poland has changed… a lot! Walking around in beautiful Kraków you can feel a certain atmosphere that you can’t feel anywhere else in Europe right now, and that is the atmosphere of success. From perhaps being the greyest country in Europe, Poland is today the most prospering one, and you can feel it. I am afraid though, that my pictures below is not completely fair to Kraków. My decision to use b/w film has nothing to do with Kraków, but late autumn. Late autumn is in itself b/w.

I have to say that Poland, Polish and Poles and awakened a curiosity in me, and I will certainly be back soon! With some more language skills.
